Basin Complex Fire Update This update was prepared at 00:00 hours 7/3/2008 52,000+ acres burned Injuries: 2 Structures destroyed: 17 ~ Structures threatened: 1,277 fire map http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/lospadres/conditions/ fire map INFO HOTLINE: (805) 961-5770 There is still no mandatory evacuation order in the Cachagua/Tassajara region. However, residents are being encouraged to clear brush around their homes, remove combustibles from the land, and prepare for contingency plans for animals/pets/livestock. Horse owners should seriously think about finding a safe place to move their animals. A heli-base has been established at Eaton's barn at he corner of Tassajara Rd. and C.V.R. All air operations will be centered there. Thank you, Bob Eaton. Strike team fire engines and crews have been able to travel within our district, and to provide valuable support to our community, so please continue to be courteous to all incoming fire crews who are here to help. The arrival of the strike teams does not indicate an increased risk. Remember that the Fire Service is being pro-active in preparing for the worst possible scenario. This week, strike teams were escorted by Cachagua Fire Volunteers into the Laurel Springs and Lion Springs areas, where they assisted in preparing structures to be more-likely saved from the fire if/when it gets here. Remember that the strike teams are here to help, nothing more, nothing less. It is in our best interest to help them help us. Having completed the dozer line from Chew's Ridge to the Los Padres Dam, the Cachagua dozers continued up Blue Rock Ridge and have reached Big Pines. They will continue cutting line toward the coast. There will be another meeting at the community center on July 3 at 17:30 hours. The meeting will provide answers to your questions, so if you want to know more, please attend the meeting. This web site will notify you of the time and place of any upcoming meetings, so check this link often. You are encouraged to call the Cachagua Fire Department with any concerns and/or questions by calling (831) 659-7700.
