INFO HOTLINE: (805) 961-5770

There is still no mandatory evacuation order in the Cachagua/Tassajara region. However, residents are encouraged to be proactive in clearing brush around their homes, removing combustibles from the land, and preparing for contingency plans for animals/pets/livestock. Horse owners should seriously think about finding a safe place to move their animals. It is better to move them now, as opposed to waiting until the last minute if/when things get crazy.

Today,  fire engines and crews were able to travel within our district and were able to accomplish a lot in regards to our safety, so please continue to be courteous to all incoming fire crews who are here to help.

A Heli-base has been established at Eaton's barn at the corner of Tassajara Road and C.V.R. Air operations will be centered from that location.

Thank you, Bob Eaton.

Strike team engines moved into our area on Tuesday, but their arrival does not indicate increased risk or danger from the Basin fire. Tuesday's focus was on the Laurel Springs area. Property owners were assisted in preparing their homes to be more-likely saved from the threat of this fire.

The Cachagua dozer group has cut line from Chews Ridge to the L.P. dam. On Tuesday they continued up Blue Rock Ridge and have now successfully reached Big Pines. They will continue toward the coast.

If you are at uneasy about the situation, please attend the  meeting on Thursday 7/3/08 at the Cachagua Community Center. The meeting will provide residents with actual real-time information, so if you want to know more, be there.

Residents are encouraged to call the Cachagua Fire Department with any concerns and/or questions by calling (831) 659-7700.
